Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit
Housing Benefit & Council
Tax Benefit are national welfare benefits administered by
local authorities on behalf of the Department for Work and
Pensions.
The purpose of the scheme is to help people on low incomes pay
their rent and Council Tax.
People in receipt of Income Support and Income Based Job
Seekers Allowance will still get all their rent and Council
Tax paid.
Other people on low income may be able to get part of their
rent and Council Tax paid.
The scheme is means tested and therefore people applying will
have to complete an application form and supply details of their
income and savings and provide details of anyone else who lives in
their home.
