Crime & Disorder

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 imposed a duty on the District Council, County Council and the Police to work in partnership to tackle crime and disorder and community safety issues in the area through a co-ordinated approach.

Within Purbeck Geographical Task Groups have also been formed to provide action groups at a localised level, with each of the task groups being formed on Upton, Wareham and Swanage and the surrounding areas.  These groups have wide ranging membership from Crime Prevention Panels, the Community Wardens, Town and Parish Councils, District Council, police and other interested voluntary groups and individuals.
