There is no single definition of overview and scrutiny. It is
perhaps best to see it as an umbrella term covering a wide range of
potential roles which can be grouped as follows:
- Holding the Executive to Account Policy Development and

Purbeck Community Partnership
At a meeting of Overview and Scrutiny on 8
December 2009 a sub-group was established to consider Community
Leadership. The sub-group was directed to carry out a scoping
exercise to define the exact areas for investigation and concluded
that as the Purbeck Community Partnership (PCP) was an integral
tool to promote and enhance community leadership, it would assess
and evaluate the effectiveness of the PCP.
Below are the notes of the Review Sub-Group
along with ad-hoc bulletins which will report on the progress of
the review. It is anticipated the review will be completed in
October 2010.
