The Standards Committee of Purbeck District Council
The Council has established a Standards Committee to
promote the highest ethical standards in Purbeck
and which provides training for members on expected
standards of behaviour and thereafter ensures that those standards
are maintained. The Committee is made up of not only District
Councillors (four), but also three non-elected independent members
and three Parish Councillors. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman
of the Committee are non-elected independent members drawn from the
local community.
The Standards Committee has a duty (previously a duty of the
Standards Board for England) to investigate any allegations that a
Councillor has breached the Code of Cnoduct and also to take
appropriate remedial action if any such allegations are
proven.
Apart from its work on the Code of Conduct, the Committee has
also revised the Protocol on member/officer relations and the Code
of Practice for members and officers on planning procedures. These
are incorporated into the
Council’s Constitution. The Committee is
advised by the District Council’s Monitoring Officer,
Mrs Lara Altree.
The Committee consists of:-
