Prices frozen at Purbeck Sports Centre

Recognising the difficulties caused by the current economic climate, Purbeck District Council has not increased charges for its Sports Centre’s courses, classes or for the Gym for 2010.

Normally, prices rise on 1 January to take account of inflation; however the Council took the decision to freeze at 2009 rates until the end of 2010, unless there is a VAT rise above 17.5% in the coming months.

The Sports Centre’s Gold Card membership fee for existing members remains at the introductory rate of £31 per month until at least December 2010, but it is only available to the first 900 members.  After the 900 places have been taken, the rate will increase to £33 per month. 

At the time of writing, the Sports Centre has 60 membership spaces left at the rate of £31 per month.  Members benefit from unlimited use of the gym, swimming pool, most exercise classes and sauna.

Due to the return to VAT at 17.5%, charges for other Sports Centre activities such as squash, badminton and tennis only increased by a small amount to reflect this 2.5% rise.
