Infectious Disease

Purbeck District Council environmental health officers have statutory powers to investigate infectious diseases in the community. In liaison with the health protection agency, health authority and GPs. Environmental health is at the forefront of public health protection in the community.

Information received from GP’s is passed via the health authority to officers to visit the patient in order to identify where they may have got their disease from and to give advice to prevent passing it on to others.
