Anchor Staying Put - An Award Winning Home Improvement Agency for Purbeck

Anchor Staying Put provides a home improvement agency on behalf of the Council. Its aim is to help older or disabled home owners and private tenants who live in the area.

Our case worker is based at the Council offices and can help in a number of different ways to enable you to ‘stay put’ in the community in comfort and safety. Anchor offers confidential advice, support and assistance.

Anchor recently announced that the agency had recently achieved the Charter Mark Standard for excellent customer service as well as recieving the 'Quality Mark' from Foundations, the national body overseeing home improvement agencies. 'Our aim is to provide the best possible service and experience for our clients.' David Rubick - Agency Manager

What sort of work can we tackle?

  • Rewiring
  • Heating / plumbing
  • Replacement doors and windows
  • Adaptations for people with disabilities
  • Level access showerDFG extension

How does this service work?

Our case worker will visit you at home to discuss your needs and help find the right solution for you. If you want to we will help you decide exactly what work should be done and prepare drawings and schedules of work. We will obtain prices and advise you on reliable contractors and inspect the work as it is done.

How do I pay for the cost of the works?

We can help you get information on the different ways of paying for the works. Some clients receive a grant and we can advise you on what you are entitled to. We can also advise you on help available from income support and other social security benefits.

Housing options for older people:

If staying put is not an option, or you are considering moving, our housing options case worker can provide help and support throughout the process of moving so you can reach a decision that best suits you.  This may include moving in with family or friends, retirement or sheltered housing schemes, extra care retirement or sheltered housing, residential or nursing care.
