Families are invited to a free family
cycle event in Wareham Forest on Saturday 5 July.
Following the Sika Tail,
children over 9 years and their families have a choice of two
routes through the forest and heathland of Purbeck – an easy one
and a longer route of 7 miles. Bikes can be hired on
the day, so there’s no excuse to miss out on the fun.
Cllr Nick Cake, Natural Environment
Spokesperson for Purbeck District Council, says: “This is a
great way to enjoy the forest and heathland of Purbeck. Look
out for lizards, butterfly, deer and rare birds that thrive in
our fantastic landscape.”
The trail follows tracked routes through the
forest and heath. It is generally flat with a couple of inclines
and is suitable for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
Take the Bere Road out of Wareham and you will
find the Sika Trail public car park on your right-hand side for
registration from 9.30 am until 10.30 am. Children between
the ages of 9 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
A suitable working bike and cycle helmet are
advised.
