Comments sought on Worth Matravers Conservation Area Review
People are being asked to share their
thoughts on boundary proposals and Character Appraisal documents
drawn up for the Worth Matravers conservation area, as part of a
district-wide review.
Following a period of information gathering at
the end of last year, a six week public consultation will now take
place between Monday 23 February and Friday 10 April when
interested parties can give their views to Purbeck District
Council.
Cllr Paul Johns, Built Environment
Spokesperson for Purbeck District Council said: “This is an
opportunity to play an important role in the future preservation
and enhancement of Worth Matravers. The consultation
gives everyone the opportunity to tell us what they think about the
boundary proposals and Character Appraisal documents”.
Conservation Areas are designated to cover the
most historically and architecturally important and interesting
parts of towns and villages. Various factors contribute to
the special character of a conservation area. These include:
the quality of the buildings; the historic layout of roads, paths
and boundaries; boundary treatments and patterns of enclosure;
characteristic building and paving materials; uses and
associations; the quality of the public realm and the contribution
made by trees and green spaces. A strong “sense of place” is
often associated with Conservation Areas.
Information will be posted to all property
owners affected by boundary proposals.
The Character Appraisal documents will be
available at Worth Matravers Village Hall and from the District
Council Offices at Westport House, Worgret Road, Wareham, BH20 4PP
or online on the
Worth Matravers Conservation Area Review pages on this
website.
All comments should be made in writing to the
